As a single mom, I thought having a stable job will provide my teens a simple, convenient, and comfortable life. But beyond that, I was neglecting my motherly duties towards them. Creating a gap and finding excuses not to be with them because of my busy schedule at work. And that made me decide to resign from my job. Now, I am staying at home, needed attention, and care of my daughters was given off and complimented. But as days go by, there are still fights that I need to face, especially when it comes to money matters like my depleted savings and augmented fees & bills. How and where will I get the resource to sustain the needs of my family? Should I open a small business? Or find another job?

One day, as I was browsing my FB news feed, a video ad from the Filipino Virtual Assistance (FVA) took my attention. It offered an opportunity for a single mom like me who wants a different provision for the family. At first, I was doubtful, thinking maybe it is a scam. But as I research its reviews & testimonials, it was able to erase my hesitation.

Changing my career perspective from an experienced Industrial Engineer to an aspiring freelance Virtual Assistant is a big challenge. The virtual assistance industry offers opportunities for career & personal growth, and it improves a better lifestyle. I opted to take this new endeavor without compromising the quality time of my family. Deep thinking, weighing the pros & cons and re-evaluating myself were my considerations before deciding to enroll in their freelanced course.

Pursuing this new career, I confronted by the hurdles that come along the way. First, planning my finances wisely since I’m on a tight budget, investing in a good quality tool (laptop & internet access) was the priority. Secondly, having a hard time branding myself due to a lack of skills needed by the potential clients; and lastly, the toughest to face is the fear of doubting myself, considering my past work experience was quite far from the services offered by virtual assistance. I know it will take me a while to process this new undertaking, but with high hopes, dedication, patience, and faith in Almighty God, I can surpass this with flying colors.

As I took the training and progress, I learned & enhanced the essential skills at my own time, pace & perspective. Through the assignments and their applications, I rediscovered my other potentials that were become dormant during my previous work. I loved the effort & creativity in my outputs. The guidance & simple recognition from Ms. Grace Locsin, our FVA coach, are positively uplifting & rewarding. The bond developed between me & Ms. Grace helped restore my self-confidence and appreciation towards my works & accomplishments. The amount of time & money I’ve spent was worth it, and I did not regret joining the FVA family. I am excited about the numerous benefits and the skills to learn after this training. I hope potential clients will trust me because I can accomplish the job they require and consider my part toward their business success.

Once I become an established Virtual Assistant, I’ll be eager to return the favor to the FVA Academy by spreading and sharing the learnings, the ideals, the perks, and the techniques to those interested & wanted a life-changing career in Virtual Assistance.
